Week 26: March 9–13

What’s Due

On Monday, we end our unit on the Constitution with an exam. A combination of multiple choice and short essay, the exam takes the full period. Study guide is posted here.

Tuesday continues our study of tight writing and the grammatical knowledge you need to write tightly. We review the Grammar Self-Assessment you took last week and identify your proofreading profile: What are your strengths and weaknesses as a proofreader?

Thursday begins our first unit in economics, called Running in Place, in which you learn some basic concepts of a market economy in the course of consulting on the start-up of a running shoe company.

On Friday you bring in an example of “non-tight” writing that you have found from somewhere out in the world. We share these in class and practice cutting out the “lard.” There will also be some workshop time for revising graduation portfolio artifacts.
