Week 18: January 12–16

What’s Due

Next Week

Lecture Notes

This is the last week of the semester, and we spend it getting ready for the final next week.

The final has two parts: One half is the oral presentation of your U.N. Task Force’s final recommendations for the democracy of Xlandia. The other half is a written essay exam, covering content from both government and Dante’s Inferno.

On Monday (Lesson 48), we go over what’s on the final. We spend some time looking at aspects of Inferno that you need to be tracking in preparation for an essay question on whether the pilgrim is changing through the course of the epic poem. The rest of class (the bulk of it) will be team time, with computers, for your U.N. Task Force to prepare its formal presentation to the Xlandian Rebel Forces.

Wednesday is also given to U.N. Task Force team time. By the end of class, the Keynote should be complete and the group’s script finalized.

At the end of the week, Thursday/Friday, the final exam begins with the first of Xlandia group presentations. (We need to start early to be sure we can finish them during actual finals week.)

Through all of this, you need to keep up with your Dante reading and thesis logs—two for every reading assignment. In addition, you should spend time every evening revising and polishing your White Paper on Xlandia.

Next Week’s Finals Schedule:

Monday 1/19: MLK holiday
Tuesday 1/20: Period 1 – E Block, Period 2 – G Block: Xlandia presentations
Wednesday 1/21: Period 3 – G Block: Written exam
Thursday 1/22: Period 6 – E Block: Written exam
