Week 16: December 15–19

What’s Due

In our last week before the holiday break, we begin our much anticipated reading of Dante’s Inferno, the first volume of the Divine Comedy. In Government, we continue our work on the Xlandia project.

On Monday/Tuesday (Lesson 42), we take a short look at the medieval context for the Inferno and then read Canto 1 in class. You will be keeping a thesis log on Inferno and are introduced to this assignment.

In Government, you work in your Task Force groups in preparing a recommendation on a government for Xlandia.

Wednesday is Job Shadow Day. Students who are not out on a job shadow will silently read Inferno.

On Thursday/Friday we examine the concept of contrapasso in Inferno: sinners are punished by a process either resembling or contrasting with the sin itself. And we predict what punishments may come in lower layers of hell.

In Xlandia project time, you work with your Task Force on the “Preliminary Recommendations to AFRX.”
