What to Do This Weekend: 10/13–14
- Wade deep into your Moving Voices Notecard Research. You need to come to class on Mon./Tues. (depending on your block) with at least 20 notecards documenting your reading from one or more of your research sources in your annotated bibliography. Review the proper notecard technique and practice it.
- Read Song of Solomon to page 172 (chapters 6 & 7).
- Do two more thesis log entries on the Song of Solomon reading, bringing your total to six entries.
If you haven’t already . . .
- get to your local library this weekend and track down some research sources. (Many smaller libraries are closed on Sunday, so try to make it happen on Saturday.) If you are striking out, ask the librarian for help; they are professionals paid to help you with these kinds of projects.
- acquire your notecard tools:
- at least 100 notecards (3×5 tend to be the most practical)
- a box or container to put them in
- notecard dividers (easy to make your own if you don’t want to buy them)
Ongoing Reminder
Bring your notecard tools and at least one research book or article to school every day from now on. In the coming weeks, you will have time to work on your research in Language Arts, American History, and Project Studio, so always be prepared to make productive use of this time.
The Coming Week’s Schedule
Because of the PSAT testing on Wednesday, we drop the fast-rotation Monday schedule for a two-lesson week: Lesson 18 on Monday/Tuesday, and Lesson 19 on Thursday/Friday. Blocks C, D, and E have American Literature on Monday; Blocks A and B on Tuesday.
