Summer School Economics

What to Study

If you received an NC in Economics for the second semester, it means that your performance on the final exam was not adequate to earn credit for the course.

To fix your NC, you must resubmit answers to the Economics half of the final exam (pdf download) that demonstrate a proficient understanding of the key concepts of the course.

Everything you need to answer these questions can found in the “What to Study” resources listed to the right. For guidance on the short answer questions, take a hard look at the Example Circular Flow Short Answers and the Practice Final Answer slides.

The most important part of the exam is Section 3: the Op-Ed article. You are writing as a representative of the Department of Energy announcing whether you have decided to set the price ceiling for gas above or below the current market price of $5.00. Please read the background materials for the Op-Ed article. The purpose of the article should be to educate the public about the economic concepts involved; a satisfactory answer MUST explain in plain English WHY a gas shortage is likely if the ceiling is set below the market price.
