Setting Up Author Blog
- Begin by opening a new window in your browser; that way you will be able to view and follow these instructions at the same time.
- In the new window you have opened, go to www.blogger.com.
- If you have already set up an account with blogger for another teacher or for yourself, log in and go to step #4. If you haven’t set up an account before, then go to step #5.
- You should see a list of last year’s blogs. Click “Create a Blog,” and then skip to Step #7.
- Click the “Create Your Blog Now” button.
- Proceed through the first page of set-up procedures. Write down your username and password in your assignment notebook so you don’t forget.
- On page 2, you must title your blog the following:
[Your Name] – American Author Project on [Author’s Name]
for example:
Justin Wells – American Author Project on Norman Maclean
And the url address of your blogspot must be your first and last name with no spaces, and a reference to the American author project, for example
http://justinwells-americanauthor.blogspot.com
- Please write down your url address; you will need to provide this to your teacher.
- Choose a template that you like.
- Once your blog has been created, click the “Start Posting” button.
- For your first post, publish your American Author proposal (WA#6). Cut and paste with a few corrective formatting strokes is all you need to do.
- When you have finished your post, click the “Publish Post” button.
- Click the “View Blog” tab. If everything is working properly, your published blog will pop open in a new window.
- When you have finished, let your teacher know so he or she can review your work and can record the web address of your blog.
