Setting Up Author Blog

  1. Begin by opening a new window in your browser; that way you will be able to view and follow these instructions at the same time.
  2. In the new window you have opened, go to www.blogger.com.
  3. If you have already set up an account with blogger for another teacher or for yourself, log in and go to step #4. If you haven’t set up an account before, then go to step #5.
  4. You should see a list of last year’s blogs. Click “Create a Blog,” and then skip to Step #7.
  5. Click the “Create Your Blog Now” button.
  6. Proceed through the first page of set-up procedures. Write down your username and password in your assignment notebook so you don’t forget.
  7. On page 2, you must title your blog the following:
[Your Name] – American Author Project on [Author’s Name]
    for example:
Justin Wells – American Author Project on Norman Maclean

And the url address of your blogspot must be your first and last name with no spaces, and a reference to the American author project, for example
    http://justinwells-americanauthor.blogspot.com
  8. Please write down your url address; you will need to provide this to your teacher.
  9. Choose a template that you like.
  10. Once your blog has been created, click the “Start Posting” button.
  11. For your first post, publish your American Author proposal (WA#6). Cut and paste with a few corrective formatting strokes is all you need to do.
  12. When you have finished your post, click the “Publish Post” button.
  13. Click the “View Blog” tab. If everything is working properly, your published blog will pop open in a new window.
  14. When you have finished, let your teacher know so he or she can review your work and can record the web address of your blog.
